This day on Mindfulness and Buddhism is aimed at anybody who has done the eight-session course or is interested in how the teachings of Buddhism can help in our everyday lives. It is led by Suryacitta who was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1999.
Themes covered include:
- The Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path
- Karma – You don’t need to believe in Karma for it to be true, just like you don’t need to believe in gravity.
- The Life of the Buddha – who he was and what he discovered
- We will explore the much-misunderstood nature of the self
- Guidelines for living
There will be time for meditation and to ask questions and explore other aspects of Buddhism. The day will also explore how mindfulness originated from Buddhism.
There will also be time to relax and walk in beautiful Bradgate Deer Park just two minutes walk away.
I just wanted to say a massive Thank You for a wonderful weekend ☺
The exercise you did with us around Original Nature ie. talking to Awareness was so powerful and I feel very grateful for that learning.
Words and labels can sometimes be so confusing, which often leads to a question from me (sorry!) I really appreciated the opportunity to ‘experience’ it fully rather than simply as a concept.
You are a brilliant teacher and I feel very lucky to have found you. I had dismissed Buddhism because I believed it to be what *** taught but you have opened my heart to it again and what you share resonates with me so deeply.
Hope to see you again soon.” SC
“I just wanted to thank you and Gaynor for such a wonderful weekend retreat- it has deepened my understanding and I feel will deepen my practice of mindfulness with a much greater understanding. You have a rare gift of communicating in a way that challenges and explains in such a simple way.
I will see if I can make the Italian retreat but will certainly look forward to seeing you again soon”
