Mindfulness and Compassion - simple, plain and practical
This course will be led by Suryacitta
The three day intensive course is led by five time author and international teacher Suryacitta, he is known for his intuitive approach to teaching and is one of the most experienced mindfulness and meditation teachers in the UK.
This Mindfulness and Compassion course was created by Suryacitta and is a core component of the Mindfulness and Compassion MSc at Coventry University, where he teaches.
How the course will be taught:
Suryacitta is renowned for keeping the teaching simple, practical and relevant to peoples everyday lives. He includes stories, images, anecdotes and metaphors in his teaching.
During the three days there will be teaching input, guided meditations and plenty of time for questions and discussion. You will be able to apply simple and effective tools and techniques in your own lives. By practicing you will see how mindfulness can help you in your daily life - enhancing your relationships, your work and every other area of your life.
“It was a revelation to see how powerful and beautiful can be the use of metaphors and stories to convey meaning. They cut through confusion like lots of words never could.” Dan
Themes covered and what you will learn:
The Jewel in the Ice: You will learn what mindfulness is and is not and how to set up and establish a regular meditation practice
How to live in your body, not your head: You will learn how to come out of your head and into your body
Living in the present: You will be shown how to stop living in the past and future and to live more in the present moment, which brings more contentment and ease.
Calming the chattering mind: You will be shown why you have a busy mind and how to calm it. You will explore the nature of thoughts themselves.
Dancing with dragons – working with difficult emotions: You will learn how to work with stress and anxiety and all other difficult experiences. This builds more resilience to support the challenges of daily living.
The ABC of mindfulness - the secret to a happy life: We will show you the secret to a happy live. Its not what you think it is!
Compassion meditation for self and others: We share the beautiful practice of compassion (loving kindness) meditation and how to apply it to yourself and others.
Everyday mindfulness and what next: We will show you how to maintain your practice, addressing the common obstacles and pitfalls. We talk about what’s available and on offer after the course.
Course Materials, after course support and CPD Certificate:
Your will be sent a Mindfulness and Compassion workbook to use alongside the live course.

What People Say
“It’s been amazing. Thanks very much. Just give me the understanding that you don’t have to make things complicated." Julie
"Feel I’ve learnt so much without being overloaded with verbal information. I felt you lead the course using your awareness of the group not just following a set structure. And all teaching easily relatable and practical. Feel that what I have learnt has given me a confident foundation. Thank you." Nikki
What People Say
“Thank you. Superb course. Very Professional laid-back manner. I will be recommending to others. Came on the course to support a family member, however it made me think how much I work to set routines and maybe could change my mindset a little. I was initially sceptical regarding mindfulness but intent to practice on a regular basis." Lee
The course surpassed my expectations, it has helped me understand that I don’t need to clear my mind, I acknowledge my thoughts. The guidance on your website has been really useful as well as the guided reading sent beforehand. This has helped me to continue to engage in mindfulness before the course as well as afterwards." Alex
What People Say
“Everyone enjoyed the course. People were lovely, I was able to ask questions and not feel uncomfortable at all. I always complicate and elongate everything, when small and simple steps every day are far more beneficial. I’ve learnt lots of valuable tips." Mehmoona
"I realise I have always seen myself as a doer and felt it’s important to have constant things to do and lists of things for the future. I didn’t allow myself time to be and that means thoughts came in when I was doing other things like sleeping. This has been such a positive experience. It has left me wanting to do more." Gail
