Developing staff, improving performance, focus, relationships and well-being

We offer highly respected training programmes with a mindfulness-based approach at their core.

Mindfulness in the Workplace  Reduce sick leave and increase staff engagement

Recent research has shown the percentage of stress-related absence in the workplace has doubled in the past year, rising from 5% in 2017 to 10% in 2018.

Mindfulness in the Workplace helps to reduce sick leave, improve performance and have happier, more productive staff. A number of randomised controlled trials of workplace mindfulness-based training courses have found positive effects on burnout, wellbeing and stress; increased emotional resilience; greater ability to focus; deeper empathy for others and greater clarity of thinking and decision making.

Our range of mindfulness courses can be carried out on site or at our venue, at convenient times, with all the necessary collateral and course follow up. They give your staff a range of mindfulness tools and techniques specifically designed to help them organise their workload, collaborate better, handle difficult situations, build resilence and gain greater self- awareness.

Mindfulness in the Workplace

Mindfulness meditation has been the subject of a considerable amount of research. The impacts of mindfulness are said to be:
· A clearer perception our world
· Being more present with the world as it is here and now
· Regulation of our mind, body, emotions and impulses
· Enhanced cognition and clarity of thinking
· Calmer more measured response to the world
· Choose our responses more than react
· Wiser behavioural actions and responses

The outcomes for individuals of a regular mindfulness practice leads to self-awareness, improves understanding and clarity of thinking; allows for greater self-control and emotional resilience; ability to focus and increases performance; enhances interactions and relationships; supports compassion for self and others and better health and wellbeing

How to be more compassionate in the workplace
Coventry
Compassion is an area often associated with a mindful approach. Generally being seen as being aware of the suffering of others, being non-judgemental and with a desire to take appropriate action to alleviate it, this is also an approach much need in the modern work place. Being mindfully compassionate is not just about taking action to help others, it is also about how you frame others suffering and how you cope with their suffering yourself. Of course you also need to have self-compassion in a world of constant challenges.  Ultimately it is about our relationships with others, which of itself is key to a healthy work life.

What People Say

A few comments from the course delivered for Leicestershire County Council.

“It has been an excellent course. Initially, I was very reluctant to go on the course, not knowing what it was or how it could help me. But the course is so powerful and challenging and life-changing. It made me become more aware of myself and I intend to continue to practice.”
Stephen J
"It should be rolled out to all the staff in
social care."
Stephen F
"I feel very comfortable with how the sessions have been presented to me, the humour, anecdotes and stories helped me to have a greater understanding of mindfulness. I feel very grateful to have been given the opportunity and will definitely recommend to my colleagues and peers to come on a course. I will miss the Tuesday morning sessions." Althia

"I feel that it’s been a real awakening and so pertinent, I realise that practicing mindfulness is quite easy as long as you don’t try too hard!." Jane

What people say

Mindfulness and self management course:
"I found the course very helpful and a great mix and balance of sitting, mindfulness practice and practical time management tools.. I found the conversations within the group helpful and the insight into other people’s work life issues and practices interesting and reassuring. The presentation style was good, relaxed, comfortable and knowledgeable - I enjoyed the fact that there was no powerpoint." Alison

"I have definitely adopted the personal workflow system in the workplace and an still improving that system as I go along. In particular ensuring that I capture tasks effectively. I am also ensuring that I listen to my body signalling that I am tired, thirsty etc. and exercising self-compassion - realising that in the long run this makes me more productive rather than less."
Rebecca - Charnwood Borough Council
"I have applied some parts. For example ‘eating the frog’ is a brilliant piece of advice and alongside ‘if it will take less than two minutes, just do it. I’m applying both and it’s made a huge difference, I’m getting things out of the way, rather than putting them off and them then becoming a distraction and source of procrastination.
The course exceeded my expectations and was very helpful. It was really refreshing to consider techniques for managing work loads and competed priorities from a mindful perspective. It helped open my eyes and mind to different approaches, which I had previously discounted as being corporate stuff n’ nonsense."
Claire - Probation Trust
"I really appreciated the style in which the course was presented. It helped create a very interactive, friendly and thought-provoking environment in which to consider techniques to help work more mindfully. I loved the combination of listening, talking and meditation and thought it was very well balanced. Much more enjoyable than a traditional class room based style.”
Michelle
“Suryacitta’s teaching style is excellent. He feels the need of the students and adds an individualism into each students feedback. I have found the teaching inspiring and I am eager to put it into practice. Thank you!”
Diane – Capital One
"I have used the compassion meditation with someone I found difficult, after months of trying and failing to understand her behaviour and it worked like magic. I use it often now and I always find it helps. I need to get better at practising it on myself! Also, if I choose an attitude for the week, and try to apply it, that helps me to stay mindful.
I’m sorry the course has ended. I used to really look forward to it. I feel better for having attended, and more hopeful that I can change things at work for myself."
Nic – Leicester Partnership Trust
Nic - Leicester Partnership Trust
“Very layered both in the outer curriculum and the inner curriculum and at a pace that enables connections to be made.”
Stephen
“I have found this particular experience of mindfulness meditation, and you both as tutors, to be the most rewarding experience of meditation under tuition thus far, thank you”
Tony, University Lecturer
“Arriving at the venue for mindfulness, teacher training, I was very nervous and apprehensive as I had not met anyone before and had not attended Suryacitta 8 week course. Immediately I met with a warm welcome from Suryacitta and his wife. Our group were allocated our own kitchen area filled with a range of drinks and snacks, which allowed you to serve yourself, a nice touch. A very relaxing, peaceful atmosphere throughout. After running through introductions with the group we had meditations immediately lead by Suryacitta. He has a calm manner and explains everything in an easy to understand way.Questions where answered professionally yet informally. When I lead the group, feedback was constructive but never critical. Our lunches where extremely tasty and thoughtfully prepared. The group relaxed well into each other and became more friendly as the week progressed, clearly due to the surroundings and how Suryacitta and Gaynor ran the training programme. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone.”

Mindful Coaching

The pressure on managers and leaders is increasing with many handling significant internal and external challenges, running high performing teams, reporting at senior level and facing public scrutiny.

Mindful coaching increases capacity through self -awareness and builds resilence. It can support your managers and emmerging leaders with tools to make better decisions, think creatively and delegate more successfully. It does improve performance and impact, helping managers and leaders to be present to the perpetual change of the work environment, handle difficult relationships and improve communication, collaboration and deliver agreed results.

Gaynor is a qualified mediator and coach who works in a creative, pragmatic and visionary manner with senior and emerging leaders. Gaynor’s experience and interests enable her to understand the issues and concerns leaders are working with

Bespoke for you

Our aim is to meet the specific needs of individuals, teams and your organisation.

Our applied mindfulness approach has been tested and focuses on seeking a way in which being more mindful becomes a way of being and working, not just an idea, with direct impacts on working practices.

We do this by exploring how to apply mindfulness to how we go about our daily work life. We have a set of mindful attitudes that could be adopted, or even just considered in daily life.
We have informal and formal mindfulness practices that are focused on work and life integration.

We recognise the importance of developing with you the most suitable way to bring a culture of mindfulness to your organisation or team. Get in touch with us to find out more about how we can work with you to build a mindful approach within your team and organisation.
