Developing staff, improving performance, focus, relationships and well-being
We offer highly respected training programmes with a mindfulness-based approach at their core.
Reduce sick leave and increase staff engagement
Recent research has shown the percentage of stress-related absence in the workplace has doubled in the past year, rising from 5% in 2017 to 10% in 2018.
Mindfulness in the Workplace helps to reduce sick leave, improve performance and have happier, more productive staff. A number of randomised controlled trials of workplace mindfulness-based training courses have found positive effects on burnout, wellbeing and stress; increased emotional resilience; greater ability to focus; deeper empathy for others and greater clarity of thinking and decision making.
Our range of mindfulness courses can be carried out on site or at our venue, at convenient times, with all the necessary collateral and course follow up. They give your staff a range of mindfulness tools and techniques specifically designed to help them organise their workload, collaborate better, handle difficult situations and gain greater self- awareness.
Mindfulness meditation has been the subject of a considerable amount of research. Some of the benefits of regular practice include:
increased emotional resilience
greater ability to focus
deeper empathy for others
greater clarity of thinking
better health and wellbeing
Regular practice enhances our ability to work creatively with our own mental and emotional states. A mindful approach increases our ability to understand and respond, rather than react to situations and others.
Our mindfulness in the workplace programme can be run at your own venue or at our purpose built venue in Leicestershire.
Applied Mindfulness self-management – six week course

Applied 6 week Mindfulness course “choose how you spend your time at work”- Mindful self management:
This 6 week course is aimed at people who are interested in mindfulness or meditation, are looking to develop a way to take more control of their daily work, and aim to generate a greater sense of control, progress and self-development, through:
• Feeling more in control of themselves and their work
• Achieving outcomes
• Having a better work and personal life integration
• Enjoying work more
Teachers: Dean Bennett and Gaynor Quilter

Week 3: Workflow system - the technical approach to personal performance.

Week 6: Develop a range of effective and supportive personal practices and attitudes which work for you in your workplace and can be applied through everyday behaviours and practices at work

“When a colleague of mine arranged a small group mindfulness meditation sessions with Suryacitta, I had no idea what to expect. As a medical professional, however, I was quite curious about what could be on offer to help with everyday life stressors. This continued weekly for further 6-8weeks and provided another perspective on my approach to life and other people around me. Each session lasted around 1 hour facilitated by himself who was open, non-judgemental and knowledgeable. He had written a book on the subject, which I found extremely honest and easy to read and follow. The sessions were unbelievably simple and practical consisting of discussion among the group and mental and physical practices.”
Dr Reza Kiani, Consultant in learning disabilities
“Suryacitta introduced us to how the practice of mindfulness leads to a quiet cumulative experience of inner peace, resilience and the first steps to finding the happiness we have buried within ourselves. Finding and living in happiness is a continuous life-long exercise, and only an effective and advanced teacher can instill the faith needed to sustain and enjoy the journey. Suryacitta was that teacher, and I am grateful for the experience. I would recommend Suryacitta’s course and book to anyone who has genuinely realised there is an immediate and important need for compassion and happiness to pervade their lives. May you be kind, and may you be happy.”
Dr Avinash Hiremath, Psychiatrist Glenfield, Leicester
“One of the main reasons I had for coming on the course was that I had struggled to learn from just reading books on the subject. Dr Adam’s careful, sympathetic and warm approach to introducing us to mindfulness has made all the difference for me. I look forward to continuing to practice daily.”
Tony, NHS patient
To be quite frank I have found these sessions with Dr Adam superb. The sessions are well thought through, relaxing and delivered in a positive manner. The combination of meditation and poetry has opened my mind to alternatives. I do find it helpful to meditate frequently and when I am having a “bad time” and cannot calm down quickly. The length of the course is appropriate to get tot he heart of the issue. A follow up session would be useful. I can’t think of any negatives as I have found this course very useful. What People Say
A few comments from the course delivered for Leicestershire County Council.
“It has been an excellent course. Initially, I was very reluctant to go on the course, not knowing what it was or how it could help me. But the course is so powerful and challenging and life-changing. It made me become more aware of myself and I intend to continue to practice.”
"It should be rolled out to all the staff in
"I feel very comfortable with how the sessions have been presented to me, the humour, anecdotes and stories helped me to have a greater understanding of mindfulness. I feel very grateful to have been given the opportunity and will definitely recommend to my colleagues and peers to come on a course. I will miss the Tuesday morning sessions." Althia
"I feel that it’s been a real awakening and so pertinent, I realise that practicing mindfulness is quite easy as long as you don’t try too hard!." Jane
What people say
Mindfulness and self management course:
"I found the course very helpful and a great mix and balance of sitting, mindfulness practice and practical time management tools.. I found the conversations within the group helpful and the insight into other people’s work life issues and practices interesting and reassuring. The presentation style was good, relaxed, comfortable and knowledgeable - I enjoyed the fact that there was no powerpoint." Alison
"I have definitely adopted the personal workflow system in the workplace and an still improving that system as I go along. In particular ensuring that I capture tasks effectively. I am also ensuring that I listen to my body signalling that I am tired, thirsty etc. and exercising self-compassion - realising that in the long run this makes me more productive rather than less."
Rebecca - Charnwood Borough Council
"I have applied some parts. For example ‘eating the frog’ is a brilliant piece of advice and alongside ‘if it will take less than two minutes, just do it. I’m applying both and it’s made a huge difference, I’m getting things out of the way, rather than putting them off and them then becoming a distraction and source of procrastination.
The course exceeded my expectations and was very helpful. It was really refreshing to consider techniques for managing work loads and competed priorities from a mindful perspective. It helped open my eyes and mind to different approaches, which I had previously discounted as being corporate stuff n’ nonsense."
Claire - Probation Trust
"I really appreciated the style in which the course was presented. It helped create a very interactive, friendly and thought-provoking environment in which to consider techniques to help work more mindfully. I loved the combination of listening, talking and meditation and thought it was very well balanced. Much more enjoyable than a traditional class room based style.”
“Suryacitta’s teaching style is excellent. He feels the need of the students and adds an individualism into each students feedback. I have found the teaching inspiring and I am eager to put it into practice. Thank you!”
Diane – Capital One
"I have used the compassion meditation with someone I found difficult, after months of trying and failing to understand her behaviour and it worked like magic. I use it often now and I always find it helps. I need to get better at practising it on myself! Also, if I choose an attitude for the week, and try to apply it, that helps me to stay mindful.
I’m sorry the course has ended. I used to really look forward to it. I feel better for having attended, and more hopeful that I can change things at work for myself."
Nic – Leicester Partnership Trust

“Very layered both in the outer curriculum and the inner curriculum and at a pace that enables connections to be made.”
“I have found this particular experience of mindfulness meditation, and you both as tutors, to be the most rewarding experience of meditation under tuition thus far, thank you”
Tony, University Lecturer
“Arriving at the venue for mindfulness, teacher training, I was very nervous and apprehensive as I had not met anyone before and had not attended Suryacitta 8 week course. Immediately I met with a warm welcome from Suryacitta and his wife. Our group were allocated our own kitchen area filled with a range of drinks and snacks, which allowed you to serve yourself, a nice touch. A very relaxing, peaceful atmosphere throughout. After running through introductions with the group we had meditations immediately lead by Suryacitta. He has a calm manner and explains everything in an easy to understand way.Questions where answered professionally yet informally. When I lead the group, feedback was constructive but never critical. Our lunches where extremely tasty and thoughtfully prepared. The group relaxed well into each other and became more friendly as the week progressed, clearly due to the surroundings and how Suryacitta and Gaynor ran the training programme. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone.”
