What you eternally are is beyond the mind, beyond concepts and beyond all ideas. You are life itself, oneness, before the mind turns it into me and you, self and other, me inside this body and the world outside of it...

Awakening to the dream - 12 week online non duality satsang meetings

Twelve week online Awakening to the Dream - Satsang Programme - This course will be led by Suryacitta
Non duality is a translation of the word Advaita, meaning non dual, "not two" or even oneness. This oneness is the fundamental nature of everything. Everything is a part of and made of one nondual essence. But often the question arises, "If it is all one thing, why don’t I experience it that way?"
We don't experience the oneness of life as non dual because as we grow out of infancy we become strongly identified with the thinking mind. The thinking mind splits the world up into me and you, self and other. Our experience is that I am here in this body and life is out there happening to me. As a consequence the vast majority or our attention is locked onto thoughts, so we miss the wonder of life becasue we are pre-occupied with everthing to do with me/ self. This way of being is the cause of all human suffering and angst.
The Great Undoing
The happiness, freedom or peace that you seek is not in the mind, but beyond the mind. The mind is made of thoughts, images and memories. The mind describes things, but the description is never the actual reality.
The mind is a brilliant tool to use when it is needed, for a particular purpose, but in itself it can know nothing, feel nothing, smell nothing, taste nothing, see nothing and hear nothing.
What you eternally are is beyond the mind, beyond concepts and beyond all ideas. You are life itself, oneness, before the mind turns it into me and you, self and other, me inside this body and the world outside of it. In other words before mind turns it into an apparent dualistic existence. It is at this point suffering begins, which leads to the search to find what we have never really lost, because we are already what we are looking for.
Participating in these satsangs -meetings in truth - we are not trying to refine the mind, working on the mind or doing anything to it, we are engaged in an "undoing". We are "undoing" the mis-identification which has taken place and which leads to suffering and confusion.
Is it for me?
Many people who attend this course either resonate with the message and/or have been practicing meditation or mindfulness and are begining to wonder where it leads.
The material for the programme comes primarily from Suryacitta’s own experience but he draws on Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta (non duality), Zen, contemporary teachings and anything else he believes will help us to wake up.
During the sessions there will be meditations, pointers (exercises) contemplations, silence and voice dialogue and time for discussion.
Themes covered include:
What’s wrong with right now, until you think about it? - a beautiful and simple pointer which gets right to the heart of our conceptual prison
On having no head - here we draw on direct simple exercises aiming at revealing who you really are
You are not your thoughts - thank goodness! - we are all hypnotised by our thoughts. Here we explore what they really are and how to be free of them
Life is happening to me, isn’t it! - the great cosmic joke as it is called in Zen. Life is happening but is happening to no-one.
You are timeless presence itself - thoughts come and go, feelings come and go, even the body comes and goes but timeless presence remains - you are that!
That which was never born and never dies - this timeless presence was never born and never dies
This is it! - we search and search for that “something,” waking up is realising that this is it!
Intuitive awareness - prior to thought there is an eternal knowing, it is intuitive and ever present and free from all problems
Beyond the person - the word person literally means mask. Here we peek beyond the mask of personality to see who we really are
I Am - the simplest and most profound meditation there is
Reflections and meditations on interconnectedness and death and dying
